Self-Care is a Must!

Self-care is defined as:


“the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness, in particular, during periods of stress”.


It is intentionally prioritizing your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Doing this in an attempt to promote good health and overall wellness.


If you know me, you know how big I am on promoting Self-care! I usually practice my rituals on Sunday. Hence, “Self-Care Sunday”. :) I try very hard on Sundays to prioritize Me. I do also love the luxury of a bubble bath, Netflix and a glass of bubbly! Oh yah, with a face mask on!


The expression of Self-care is personal to you. It can be as simple as pouring a cup of coffee and snuggling on the couch to read a book. It could be enjoying a Yoga or Stretch Class. It could be picking up the phone and chatting with one of your besties. But these small acts of relaxation will have monumental benefits for you.


I don’t know why, but most of us feel that need to “allow” ourselves any amount of relaxation or selfindulgance. We live in a “go” and then “go faster” society. Well let me tell you this, our time is not irreversible and it is not forever. We make excuses every day that we are too busy, too stressed or over committed. We put aside the things that we really want to do.


The monumental benefits that I mentioned earlier can include reduced Stress & Anxiety, increased Self Esteem and overall just feeling better about yourself. With these changes you will improve your Mental Health.


Self-care can also improve your Physical Health by engaging in a regular exercise routine that you enjoy. I have always said, “find a workout that you love and that you won't dread doing”! Get out and take a walk, breathe in some fresh air, stop and smell a rose. This regular routine can help lead to healthier eating, a stronger immune system and better sleep. These are all known facts!


So NO more excuses Peeps, Prioritize YOU this weekend(or any other days you choose).
