Stay Happy, Healthy & Fit!

A Bit About Me

"Confidence is Your Most Attractive Feature"

I’m Marianne DuCharme “M”, the founder of Beyond the Barre By the Bay. Or how I like to refer to it, B4.

I grew up believing that I had body imperfections. To say that I lacked confidence is an understatement. Much later in life I realized that I was hiding myself away and not living to my fullest potential. Around that same time I discovered the Barre workout. Little did I know, it would change my life forever.

It had a vast effect on my Mind & Body.

That powerful connection changed my outlook and the way I felt about myself. It strengthened my Soul. I realized there was so much more to Me.

I began to focus on my form in every class and I was more aware of body alignment. I had suffered for years from low back pain due to a weak Core, as well as the impact running had on me.

Pilates & Barre changed all of that and I wanted to share that with others.

I firmly believe there are no imperfections in oneself, just
things that set you apart. I hope to empower you to feel the same and to live to your fullest potential, in both Mind & Body.

I created B4 while living bi-coastal, between the San Francisco Bay area and Tampa Bay. I wanted to stay connected, and continue to share my passion with those I’ve met through Teaching and Beyond.

I'm Trained & Certified in 6 different Barre Formats, as well as in Mat Pilates Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced.

I look forward to meeting you at the Barre...xo, M

Live & On Demand Classes

Barre:
A non-impact workout using small props in addition to one's own body weight to tone, sculpt & strengthen the body. Incorporating stretching in class will increase your flexibility and reduce your risk of injury.

Pilates:
Based on the work of Joseph Pilates, Pilates focuses on engaging the mind & body. Every exercise is performed with an attention to breath and proper form. Pilates strengthens your core and improves balance & flexibility, while decreasing stress.

ABC (Abs, Booty, Core):

A format designed to target your abdominals, glutes, and the muscles that allow you to stabilize and move your body:  transverse abdominals, internal & external obliques, pelvic floor, diaphragm and more…

Kitchen Sink Barre:

We'll use your kitchen sink in lieu of a mounted Ballet Barre for class. This will enable you to use your body weight against it.

Yoga:

Slow, thoughtful movements connecting body, breath and mind. Yoga has many physical and mental health benefits including improved posture, flexibility, strength, balance and body awareness.

Meet K!

K & M met a few years ago in one of M's Barre Classes.

They started chatting and realized they had so much in
common. They became great friends from that day on.
K had just dropped her oldest of 3 children off at college
and felt like she was overdue to focus on herself. She
became a regular in class and loved Barre!

When Beyond the Barre by the Bay was up and running,
Marianne began to train Kristin so she could guest teach
from time to time. Her form was fantastic and the Ladies
already adored her. In 2021, K formally trained and was
Certified in Barre.

Kristin is an accomplished Interior Designer by trade,
but has a passion for Barre & Pilates. She brings Wit,
Fun, Encouragement & Trivia to every Class.

K looks forwarding to meeting you at the Barre.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Susan

Marianne is a fantastic instructor, the best in my opinion. I am living proof that she will make you stronger, more flexible, and balanced. I have watched my body transform from her classes. She is enthusiastic and motivating. She gives selflessly of herself by creating a safe and inviting environment for all. She is creative, always adding in new moves with different props. Her classes are fun and easy to follow, while still challenging. Aside from all of her teaching talents, Marianne has created a community by which I have met so many wonderful women, whom I now call my friends. Her kindness, compassion and warmth makes everyone feel so comfortable and welcome. I cannot say enough. You need to join in, she is awesome!!

Sharon

I met Marianne when she was a teacher at the Bay Club in San Jose, CA. The Barre program at that time was non-existent and there were a few of us who really wanted to bring Barre to the club. To fill that gap I took classes at a Boutique Barre Studio. When they brought Barre to the Club, Marianne’s class was the first one I took. I was immediately hooked on her style of teaching. I stopped taking Barre classes at the other studio, as Marianne’s class had it all: energy, passion, expertise, and fun! She is by far the best Fitness Instructor I’ve ever had – I especially appreciate the time and effort Marianne puts into every class to make them unique and beneficial as a full-body workout. I am physically and mentally grateful to be a part of the fabulous B4 Community that Marianne built and continues to nurture for all of us.
